Lionel has been based in The Democratic Republic of Congo since September 2005.

Living first in Kinshasa, and now Goma, North Kivu, Lionel works for Agence France Presse (AFP) helping with its news coverage of the region. Other than DRCongo, he has covered stories in Nigeria, Central African Republic, Rwanda, and Brazza Congo. Lionel also works independently and has had work published in The New York Times, Le Monde, The Independent, Guardian, Daily Telegraph, and Knack Magazine (Brussels).

He also undertakes freelance photographic projects for UN agencies including The UN Development Programme (UNDP) and international NGO's including Oxfam, Warchild and The Norwegian Refugee Council.

Lionel is available to undertake photographic assignments for the international press and NGO's.
